General
Why choose EDP?
EDP is made up of experts with
extensive experience in
transmitting encrypted healthcare
records, via the Internet, to
state-of-the-art datacenters where
the data is stored and available for
continuous access or for on-demand
restoration. EDP offers three
service plans that can address
almost every imaginable need of
clients!
Compare EDP’s fees with companies
offering comparable data storage
services and you will find its fees
to be among the lowest in the
industry! EDP’s use of innovative
technologies in its extensive
Storage Area Network allows it to
offer the lowest fees possible for
the secure storage of business data,
while providing excellent service to
clients. That service includes
furnishing weekly reports (at no
additional cost) that allow you
to see exactly how much data was
backed up.
Do your services meet strict
security and regulatory standards?
Absolutely! EDP’s storage services
fully comply with: (1) the
Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act of 1996 (‘HIPAA’)
requirements for protecting
electronic patient records from loss
and safeguarding the security of
protected health information; (2)
Federal Information Processing
Standards (‘FIPS’); and (3) the
record storage requirements of the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (‘SOX’ or
‘Sarbox’).
Is it easy to restore my data?
Yes. Although our highly experienced
technicians deliver your data in
formats that make it easy for you to
restore, they also offer step by
step assistance during the process.
Is a contract required for your
service plans?
Our Platinum Plan does
require a contract because it is
custom designed for each client but
EDP’s Gold and Silver service plans
are available with, or without, a
contract. However, keep in mind that the
fees on contract service plans are
significantly less because accounting and other charges involved with monthly
transactions are eliminated and the savings
are passed on to you.
What are the fees and how are they
determined?
Our Silver
Plan offers 5GB of
storage for less than 50 cents per day
($160 annually) on a 1-year prepaid
contract; a monthly Silver plan is
$15. (See our Service
Plans for additional plans and
pricing.) This price includes
automated daily backups Monday
through Friday of each week. For a
quote based on your specific needs,
contact us.
Our fees are determined by: (1) the
volume of data; (2) the frequency of
backups (such as instant
bit-by-bit replication); (3)
whether the stored data always needs
to be available for rapid
restoration, or if it is archived
for long term storage.
Isn’t it better to do my own backups
on tapes or other media?
Assuredly the answer is no! Our
automated service ensures that (1)
you never ‘forget’ to backup; (2)
that the backup is actually usable;
and, (3) that the backed up data is
stored in two secure locations for
maximum protection. (Data is stored
in two datacenters in different
geographic areas.)
Will my firewall prevent the
automated backups?
Probably not, but EDP technicians
will provide you with any necessary
firewall changes if they are
required.
What type of connection do I need?
The faster and more reliable your
connection and upload speed, the
faster your backups will be
finished. DSL or Cable Modem speeds
are sufficient for most backups.
Dial-up connections are not allowed
with EDP's service.
What if I have a transmission or
connection failure during the
backup?
If a data transmission is
interrupted during the backup, the
EDP software will re-try until a
connection is re-established and
then continue the backup from the
point of interruption.
